We riders ask a lot of our mobile phone cases. They need to be slim enough to fit inside tight jersey pockets, yet durable enough to protect our precious devices from dirt, moisture, and the occasional impact.
It’s also nice if they can pull double duty and fit other stuff like IDs, credit cards, and cash, or come ready to mount on the handlebars (particularly useful if your phone is also your GPS).
Oh, and they should look good and feel good and be affordable, too. With all that in mind, we scoped out eight phone cases that should fit whatever your riding style demands.
Hitcase Pro
The Pro features a low-profile anodised aluminum frame, a scratch-resistant screen, seamless Touch ID compatibility, and a removable mount system. Hitcase says the case is drop-tested to 16 feet, and has a waterproof rating of up to 33 feet. Its wide-angle lens provides Instagram-ready ride photos and videos, although it will set you back around $199 in Australia. Compatible with iPhone 7.
OtterBox’s thinnest, most durable case yet. It protects against dust, mud, and snow. The screen is easily accessible, and the sealed camera opening protects the lens. Compatible with iPhone 7 and 7 plus, it costs around $90 in Australia.
