The trick to keeping your bottles cool on hot days – Bike Magazine Australia

There’s nothing worse then being miles into a long, hot ride and reaching for a refreshing drink, but getting a mouth full of gross, hot water. Fortunately, this easy hack should keep your bottles cool on those sweltering days.

1. Fill your bottle halfway with water.

2. Put in the freezer laying on its side to create a column of ice down one side of the bottle.

3. Fill the bottle up the rest of the way, and you’re ready to go.

You can also try combining this trick with an insulated water bottle, or add in a drink mix. You should aim to drink at a rate of 10-12ml per kilogram of body weight – that’s about a 700ml bottle every hour for a 70kg rider.

Numerous studies have shown that drinking water can help you lose weight, prevent kidney disease, and even put you in a better mood. So follow our three easy steps to keep your beverages cold, and remember to stay hydrated out there.
