Our latest issue of Bike has hit the newsagents, with tips to improve your sprints, ways to eat better, and how to nail photos when on the bike. We also have a long interview with Alain Rumpf from Grant Tours Project, who took us on a lap through his local mountains in Switzerland.
Our route takes us through the canton of Vaud, starting and finishing in the village of Aigle – which is the current home of the UCI, where Rumpf used to work.
“I started with a small job as employee number 9 at the UCI in 1994 and grew up really with the organisation. I was involved in admin of road cycling, working with different commissions, until 2001.” Rumpf went on to look after the professional cycling arm of the UCI and saw the development of the ProTour. But that’s now all in his past. Now he just likes to ride on the classic roads of Europe – especially in his home country of Switzerland. And that’s exactly the experience he gets to give with the Grand Tours Project.
