Last year, when trying the 2016 version of the bike, our testers claimed it was “fast, light, pretty, stable, and versatile.” Designed to be Liv’s most aerodynamic road bike, this is the option for women who want to go fast.

When Leah Flickinger, the editor of our American sister title Bicycling, tested the Ruby last summer, she was impressed by its comfort. That’s likely thanks to the bike’s FutureShock technology, which adds a small amount of suspension, and the endurance geometry, which has a slightly taller stack and shorter reach. We also love the SWAT Box – a triangular integrated flat-kit storage container just above the bottom bracket.

The Specialized Amira has won an Editor’s Choice award for the past two years running, meaning that it’s one of the best women’s race bikes around. This model comes with a mix of Shimano Ultegra and 105, and a stealthy black-and-grey paint scheme that looks just plain badass.

The Liv Avail is a versatile road bike that’s ready for whatever you want to try, whether you’re riding in your neighborhood, crushing climbs, hitting some gravel roads, or racing in your first crit. With a price point of $1,899 with Shimano 105 components and disc brakes, it’s a great entry-level bike for a woman who’s excited to ride more roads this season.

Trek Silque SLR 8

For a super-smooth ride, the Trek Silque is a superb option. That’s partially thanks to Trek’s Front and Adjustable Rear IsoSpeed decouplers, which are designed to smooth rough roads by providing a few millimeters of travel. The downtube curves for a shorter seatpost and a streamlined silhouette that’s emphasized by the matte black finish. This model features a Shimano Dura-Ace groupset with clean-looking internally routed cables.
